Q about Headlamp indicator on the Instrumentation Cluster

I've searched everywhere and I can't seem to find an answer for this except for questions and slight complains about it:

2008 G35x Sedan
I noticed that the headlamp or fog lamp indicators on the dashboard does not light up on my GF's car. There ARE indicators on the dashboard but some driver's doesn't notice it. We know that my headlights and foglights are on because we use the AUTO function.

Does anyone know if there are connectors missing that is suppose to turn it on or did Infiniti just decide to not use the indicators for the 2008 models? I notice this on my brother's 2008 FX35 as well.

On the other hand, I have a 2010 G37x Sedan and those indicators are on whenever my headlights/foglights are in use.

Links to the pictures are not working so I just posted a link.

Oh damn, first world problems!

I never really even use my fogs because they barely make a difference, but I'll have to take a look and see what indicators there are in my '07.

LOL.
The fog lights make a difference only if you have HIDs in there.

Let me know if you even see those lights come on when you turn it on.

Ok, so I just checked these two things: 1) there are no indicator lights listed in the owner's manual except for high-beam indicator, 2) when first powering on the car and observing the lamp tests on the speedo/gauge cluster, there is no fog indicator whatsoever. Next, I started the car and turned the fogs on and off and noticed that there is definitely no indicator. The only way you can tell if they're on is to either observe the extra brightness outside, or to look at the switch position on the turn signal stalk.

BTW, I also noted that it clearly states in the owner's manual that the fogs WILL ONLY come on when used in conjuction with the headlight switch in the manual "on" position, and NOT in the "AUTO" position.

The headlamp indicators only light up in 2009 G37 sedans and up...even though there is a headlamp indicator on our dashboard, it won't light up for the 2007-2008 G35 sedans.

I have talked to the dealers about this and this is what I came up with after driving numerous 2007-2008 G35 and 2009+ G37 loaners. This is normal.

I personally like the fact that our dashboard isn't a Christmas tree. I like the clean combination of white, amber/red and blue/purple. A random green light would drive me crazy.

Don't really get why you'd need indicators since the dashboard already dims down to the point where you can barely see the speedometer. That should be enough of an indicator during the day. During the night, however... If you can't tell that your headlights are on... then I don't think you should be driving at night. Haha.

Fog light indicators, however, would be very useful since our cars' fog lights don't really seem to help all that much/can barely tell that it's on.

Yeah, I don't actually think anyone here was complaining about a headlight indicator; it's pretty much ONLY been about the fogs.

Thanks for the input everyone.

The G35 was an off-lease purchase and I thought that some work might have been done or changed on the speedometer, therefore, my paranoia about those lights not being on, comparing to my G37.

I'm sure there are others on this forum that feel the same way, paranoid about things like this if a car was purchased second-hand.

Thats weird, I am sure my fog lights work when the headlights are on "auto".

Fogs work when it is set to auto. They only turn on when your headlights are on. I do it on my G all the time.

I didn't test that to verify one way or the other, I just noted that's what's what I gathered from reading the manual.
