Wrenching, and hoping, and praying... and buying

The past couple of months, i've been on a quest to regain some suspension travel and comfort out of the G.

First order of business was getting comfier tires, the Continental DW without affecting handling and traction too much. It helped. But i wanted more.

So i replaced the springs on my BC coilovers with Swifts

Uhh... no...

Not quite...

Better.

The ride was quite noticeably better, and i was in a happy place.

When all of a sudden the most annoying thing started happening...

I spent the next 4 weeks raising the car, tracking down the issues and lubricating the daylights out of every piece i could find.

I got so desperate that i eventually took things apart

And installed a new set of KYB GR-2s and Swift Mach Springs

Eh, you get the idea.

No more squeaks! Woot!

But, what's this?

Gah, of course, 3 years to the day the battery dies and i'm out of warranty. Calling the 3 nearest parts store, nobody has a replacement in stock. So off shopping i went to find a suitable replacement.

Now the car is back up and running, hopefully with no more issues. It's been a fun start to the year.

One thing I regret doing that others like to rave about is upgraded sway bars. The stiffness, especially up front, really makes ride quality suffer on choppy roads. I think I could have been happy with just the lowering springs.

.

Yeah, I just wonder if your wife knows exactly how much time you spent imagining yourself riding and/or bouncing up and down on the 'Swift'.

After spending a few weeks trying to fix the problem, time spent on this stress reliever is inconsequential. For two straight weeks i lifted and put the car on stands every.single.day after work and during the weekend. I can probably also replace the suspension blind folded by now. That'll put things into perspective.

I can relate. The front by itself didn't seem all too bad. In my case, it was the rears that really started to affect ride quality, especially considering how easy it is to get that rear to jump when hitting bumps mid-turn.

Good one! I retain innocence otherwise.
