Sell my G35?

Hello Everyone,

I have owned my car for about a month and half and I have had a blast driving it so far. It is so much fun and it is what I wanted in my current car. The problem arises because I will be leaving to Singapore in June to start up a business venture with some friends. I am looking at being out of the states for about 2-3 years if everything works out. I have called a storage place and they quoted me about $110 a month and my insurance lowered to $40 a month for storage capacity. I do not have access to a home garage. Doing the math, I would be looking at $1,800 a year just for storage alone. I really love my car but I have been entertaining selling because it really makes sense. I just don't really want to take a loss selling the car, but I would be taking a loss either way. I think I just kind of answered my own question but I would like to hear some of your opinions.

And if you have any suggestions on how to store a vehicle long term, please let me know.

You have no family or friends that could help? 1, 800 is not bad for the year btw.

i would sell the car if i know i'll be out of the country for over 2 years.

all my friends who have gone to Asia tend to stay there for longer than they originally planned to.

plus, if you decide to stay in singapore longer than 2-3 years, then you have to purposely buy a plane ticket to come back just to sell the car. Plane ticket would cost you another $2000.

My parents have a house but it doesn't have a garage and I live in Florida. I am just afraid to store it at home where the sun and heat will do damage to the paint and interior if left outside.

Selling the car seems to make the most sense at this point. I really do love the car but I know I will be gone for a few years. And one thing I didn't mention is that I have my eye on another car if everything goes well in a few years. But first order of business is to figure out what I will do with the vehicle.

Sadly, your best bet is to sell it. No point in letting a perfectly good car sit there and rot, lose value as it gets older, pay for storage and insurance/registration. You can always buy another one when you come back.

^^ Agreed. Unless you are so sentimentally tied to that particular car, and are therfore willing to endure whatever the costs to hold onto it, there is absolutely no practical sense in keeping it unless you just like throwing money away.

Leaving the car in storage is a waist of money.

either way you will be losing money on the deal

for 2 to 3 yr storage, you are looking at $3600 to $5200 expense, and then your car will depreciate as well.

I would just sell it, wait, and then buy the Q50 when you becomes rich

I love my car!!!!

Okay, so I have been debating with myself for the longest time whether I should sell my car because I will be leaving the country for a few years. The thing that gets to me the most is that I really want a BMW M3 down the line, and if I come back successful from my business venture in a few years, I told myself I would jump on one. But there are so many other variables.

The more I drive the car the more I get attached to it. I mean, I got a great deal on the car and it drives absolutely phenomenal. I know it is no sports car like an M3, but it is such a fun car. At this point, it is my dream car. It drives so smooth and quiet. The power is so usable daily driving and it feels very planted on the highway. I am absolutely in love. I think I will keep the car no matter what, even if I decide to purchase a more high performance car down the line.

All I know is every time I sit in the car and start driving it, it puts a smile on my face. It has the refinement and comfort that I am looking for at this point in my life. I don't know, I guess what I am saying is I absolutely love this car! Thank you for listening to me be all effusive and stuff.

Glad you're enjoying the ride
We spend so much time in our cars I can't imagine driving something boring or a car you see around every corner. Sure there are faster & more luxurious vehicles but for the price you really can't beat our Gs, plus they're a nice vehicle to add some unique mods to make it your own. I hate the paint, but really like everything else about these cars.
