Transmission Hesitation/Delay Engaging Reverse/Drive
#17
I have had to replace my transmission on my -08, and now that I think about it, I think we were having the same problem before it eventually failed outside of warranty. Very good move getting this thing replaced... I ended up spending about 3000 - 3500 (cant remember now, but it was a lot)

Regardless yeah, the dealer was very accommodating in regards to it and as I mentioned, the technician had no problem replacing the transmission regardless.

Yeah I understand, though its just that you really feel it engage sometimes instead of a smooth operation (I've heard a slight *clunk* accompanied with it at times). And there was this one occasion Reverse didn't kick in for 2-3 seconds and accompanied with that rough engagement.
My issue is pretty much exactly the same as yours, except mine doesnt take 3 seconds to go into gear. Mine has a delay of about 2 seconds max after being in drive.

Update
Hey guys, just wanted to check in.
Just picked up the car today, only took roughly a day to replace the transmission along with all 4 brake rotors (they were warped).
Of course with the 4 new rotors, the car brakes nice and solid now.
In regards to the transmission, reverse kicks in immediately now however drive still takes a second to engage (which as the tech said, wouldn't necessarily "disappear" with a new one). Will see how it is after putting more mileage on it though. But regardless, the new transmission is buttery smooth now in the forward gears.
All in all, car drives almost new now.

07 G35 reverse transmission delays
Hi I also have a 07 g35 coupe with reverse transmission hesitation, started 2-3 years ago when the car had ~35K miles on it . Now at 45k I don't drive in winter and the warranty ended 5 months ago. Well Infiniti doesnt want to cover it and for new trans dealer is asking for 9K. The adviser also said it was probably normal and never documented my concern and I did not want to leave it and go thru the hassle for something that was nothing since it drove fine but just had 1-2 sec delay when switching from drive to reverse. Now it only slips into reverse when above 2000 rpm almost hit another car trying to park and another time it went forward in reverse since the street curves at edge for water runoff and scratched my front bumper on the curb.
I called their corporate offices and are only giving me a 25% coupon. For a car barely driven and just 5 month out of warranty shows how little they car about their customers. Funny thing I was looking to get the new Q sedan next year but now.......
Does anyone have an email or phone number to upper level exec to address my issues.
Thanks
Pete
