can i remove the exhaust heat shield?

my heat shields under the floor, that go above the exhaust and in between the drive shaft are rattling. can i just take those off?

will it mess anything up besides the obvious heat travel.

i already too off the one above the X pipe that was a small one but there is a bigger on towards the rear, and it has the brake lines what it seems to me connected to them. can i just unhook the brake lines and remove that shield too?

Why do you want to remove them? Are you going to put them back or are you removing them permanently?

In the long run, I think it's best to keep them on and figure out a way to attach them more securely so they don't rattle.

any luck?

i tried to remove it today but it seems like there is the spring that hold the ebrake cable on.

anyone have any idea if that is necessary. or what it does?

Nah didn't do it today due to laziness. It's only 4 screws that hold it in place. Don't have to touch ebrake. we're talking about the one with the metal brace going across right?

If pushing it back doesn't work, and you're having trouble removing it, just take some tin snips to it. Not pretty, but it'll do the job.
