EWWW . . . your cluster has worms!!

Sorry, but no, I've never seen this or heard of it in these cars. I guess you can look into getting it repaired or replaced (with new or used).

This is pooey that it's happened to no one else.

I'm allowed some dust! >.<

With a 4mo old breastfeeding literally all the time, 4yo asking for food all the time and working from home while watching the boys, I hadn't found time to even dust her insides. I did wash my other ride this past weekend. Chloe gets her detail hopefully tomorrow if the sunshine holds out. Man before kids my cars were so immaculate. It's kinda back burner now, but I'm getting back to it. Looking to get lighter tires/rims and tighten up my suspension. If anyone can point me to the right threads feel free!

Tia (that's my name, not thanks in advance but t.i.a. too! haha)

I've had the LCD dim up a lot to the point where I couldn't make out what was being displayed when it got up to like 115F outside... but never like that...

That was totally unexpected. I always figured you to be the cool and calm type. Just imagining you say that nearly had me spit out my morning coffee.

It gets better, don't worry about it.

I recall a similar thread as yours posted here or on MYG37, the solution was to have the cluster replaced, IIRC.

Although, you have to admit. The worms do make your cluster look more organic. And OLED's are getting rather popular these days.

I figured it would be a cluster replacement. Boo! Trying to locate an OEM from a non-dealer. Found a website called Automotix. Anyone ever bought from a Used-Parts website before? Have any suggested sites to use?

New cluster is going to be difficult, because it will need the mileage calibrated on to the new one,
not sure if there is an aftermarket option or not, but a new one with G35driver discount would run $475 includes shipping and calibration FYI

well except the '12 cluster is about $700
and it's highly unlikely that it would be a "direct fit"

Hi Phil!

Is it possible to get a calibration done on a used cluster I buy from Ebay? I found the exact part# I need for $149.99.

Unfortunately, no it's done from the direct manafacturer, the place on E-Bay, did they mention if they can put the mileage on the display that you currently have? that's pretty much what the calibration is

I can't imagine there isn't a provision for reusing a salvage part, but even if there's not, I remember in the past, you used to be able to get approval to use an altered odometer from the DMV, thereby documenting the change, and leaving the odometer with whatever readout it had from the previous car it was in. For instance, if your odo broke at 60K and you found a used one with 90K on it, you could get it approved and use it and then have your future mileage just accumulate from 90K upward, with a clear documentation path for any future buyer of the car to know for certain how many ACTUAL TOTAL miles were on the car.

The Ebay dealer has no way of changing the mileage on the odometer. I presume it's not possible to send a cluster to the manufacturer and have them set it if I buy a used part aye?
