2012 IPL Wheels on 08 G35S Sedan - TPMS Question

All,
Requesting feedback on this issue. Bought 2012 IPL wheels, with sensors. Installed on my 08 G35S Sedan.
Went to Discount tire yesterday to register TPMS to car.
The discount tire TPMS Tool did not find the sensors.
Questions:
  1. Are the 2012 IPL TPMS sensors different than the ones used on the 2008?
    1. Should I tell the Discount Tire TPMS Tool to "Look" for 2012 IPL Sensors, and then try to register? Is this even a feasible idea?
    2. I havent tried the Manual TPMS reset using the technique posted in this forums! Is that worth a try?
Looking for suggestions. Please advise.

As I understood it, although they could program them in once they were known, not all tools could interogate for the ID's, so that may be part of the issue, but aside from that, I do not know about the 2012 TPMS in particular.

FYI, from my experiences, that particular merchant has not always been the pinnacle of competency.

Im not an expert but from my research the sensors 2012 tpms sensors are not compatible to the 2008. You can always buy Redi Sensors manufactured by Dill or VDO from a local O'Reilly's for $50/each. I had them installed on my 07 sedan and they worked just fine.

Mid 2010 they changed the sensors. The new ones do not work with 07-09s.

i like the look. i do have one question, i have a 08 G35xS i was reading on other post that it is not ideal to have the wider wheels on the back with x models. what are the size for the front? i was thinking that i could go with the front size all around.

^ I believe they are 19x8.5f and 19x9r. It might be costly to try to get 4 fronts (or rears) all around. Some people do run staggered wheels on AWD cars. I'm not sure how badly that would affect how the car works though, I'm no expert on it but I think if the rolling tire diameter is close to being the same it should be ok.

I agree. What matters is the rolling diameter. I had a Quattro in the past, and thats what I did. No issues. However, the quattro was more of a rear drive biased system. Look at the X5 Sports, with the sport package. BMW's have X-Drive and thats a 4 wheel setup. Same thing with the 911 turbo. I am quite sure that the G35/7 X is more of a rear biased setup. I think you should be fine.
I may not try this on an Acura MDX, which is front wheel biased.
Tire sizes are 225 in the front and 245 in the rear.
