Ummm.. Is glass covered?

I have a mysterious 14 inch crack across my windshield... No visible impact from rocks and I found this morning when I woke up. Someone told me infiniti elite extended warranty may cover it... I do have this insurance. I doubt glass is covered, but I was told it maybe worth a shot because manufacturing defects may cause breaks from heat.... Is this true?

I like to say no on that one. Elite works more for electronics or engine/trans

Glass is normally covered on your insurance, but only small cracks less the the length of a dollar bill. At least this is how it's worked for me under Liberty Mutual (15 years or so). Essentially, you get a chip or crack, then call Safelite and they handle the rest. Free of charge. I guess it's a preventative maint. train of thought that makes it worthwhile for the insurance company.

Unfortunatley, at 14 inches you will probably be on your own to replace the glass.

Actually insurance DOES cover the glass even if it is a crack, only thing is you may potentially have to pay a deductible ... Comprehensive insurance covers it... liability doesnt

I leave my deductible at 500-1000 dollars, so glass ends up being one of those things I pay for out of pocket. But you are right, if your deductible is low enough, the glass is covered as part of comprehensive coverage. The chip/small crack repair I mentioned is free.

Depends on the state too

Is that a state traffic safety policy of some kind? Seems that a program like this would cost insurance companies alot of money to manage, which basically equates to higher rates across the board. Sweet program though...

Just had my windshield replaced through my auto insurance last month. Check your auto policy, most policies in my area come with glass coverage (at a $0 deductible).

Got my windshield done at the same time as my left driver and rear, along with the sunroof all done today.Right after i posted this my car was Vandalized. So far no wind noise... I'm hoping there's no water leakage either.

All done under insurance, 0 deductible cause it's all glass.

In Texas windshields, aren't free, they're subject to your deductible, but you can get up to 3 cracks repaired in a calendar year free.
