Just ordered a Valentine 1...some Qs
Do our rear view mirrors have a power hook up? as in the V1 kit says it comes with a wiring harness connector..can i just connect it to rearview mirror? Also says it comes with direct wire adapter where as that looks like it connects to battery. Is that the difference between the two?
This is what it will come with:
ncludes: windshield mount; visor mount; lighter adapter; power cord, coiled (2 ft. stretches to 8 ft.); power cord, straight (8 ft.); direct-wire power adapter; wiring-harness connector; owner's manual; spare suction cups; spare fuse. 30-day Money-Back Guarantee.
You can direct wire it wih the kit that comes with the v1 to a switched hot and ground it to any connection that is metal. You can order a stealth cord to hook up to the rear view mirror. They are $5 plus shipping or you can make one yourself with 90 cents worth of parts from radio shack and an old land line phone cord. You do have the homelink mirror, right?

Mounted to mirror? Or next to it? Easy to install cord?
I actually passed on buying the mirror mount portion because I tend to buy/sell my cars frequently and there are too many different types of mirrors. I still use the suction cup mount provided with the V1 and have it mounted next to the mirror. The stealth cord took minutes to install.
I do not like the mirror mount. The detector is too easy to see. I got a long stealthcord and have the detector (mine is an Escort) on the left side of the drivers visor. Outside the car, you can't tell I have a detector. Unless you plan on removing the detector every time you leave the car, I would recommend having it out of sight.

Oh yeah, the V1 has saved me on many occasions. Totally a worthwhile investment, especially considering mine was a gift from an ex-gf!
Any issues with ICC detection with the Valentines? I would hope at this point that it would be filtered out.
i read some reviews were they said it picked it up now and then..but there are 3 settings where you can filter least amount of false reports to the most out...not sure what settings those people were using
