Downhill question.

OK long story short I just want to ask if you guys experience what just happened to my car downhill. (will delete this thread right after, to stop over threads)

Saturday Had a nice brunch at Mcafe in malibu. Going back home I took the the mulholland hwy down to the PCH. I noticed while i was driving downhill my car feels like it jerks in some point going down. Im thinking maybe because my car is switching to a proper gear to engage while downhill (driving automatic). Also I noticed my RPM is high (eventhough my foot is off the gas pedal) I tried to switch to DS mode and It lesser the jerk/hesitation kind of thing (rpm still high downhill). When i switch to M mode ofcourse i wont feel it because its up to me which gear I choose. Anyone?

This is considered normal....many drivers report that while going downhill, the transmission shifts to a lower gear, thus engaging what is called "engine braking."

This happens to my car some of the time, and you can really feel your car jerk and slow down as the transmission shifts to a lower gear.
