Sell it? or Keep it and Fix it?

I had the P0011 intake timing code for around 3 month on my 07 G35x now. It went away recently for awhile but now it's back. What I also noticed is that at around 1.9k-2k rpm there's a high frequency knocking at times. I was in my garage and it definitely sounds like it's coming from the cam shaft, it literally sounds like a tractor if I get the rpm right. And I did a engine flush recently and found a rice grain sized metal object in the oil. I'm the second owner and it has 90k km on it, I only had it for a year and drove around 1.2k km. The car ran out of warranty last year, the question is should I keep it and sink money in fixing it? or should I just sell it? I bought the car for 20g and probably invested another 7g in it. Thanks

Depends on how much you love your G . Also have you obtained a quote from the dealer or any other shop on the repair?

haha I love it very much, I invested 5g more in the car in the first 2 month of ownership. That's the thing, there's no direct quotes cause no one knows exactly what is wrong with it. Dealer said it'll cause 3g to look at the timing chains and sprockets and replace them. But that is no guarantee it'll fix the problem. I am just debating if I should just give it to the dealer and hammer out a deal getting a new G or Q.

If there is no guarantee that $3k will fix the issue, I say sell it and upgrade.

If its a unknown issue and you can afford to dump it, do it.

thanks for the inputs guys. The thing with selling is that idk if I should try to trade it to the dealer or sell it privately. It has a white paint job on it, but because I thought I would keep the car forever I decided not to spend extra to paint inside the door jams and trunk. It also has a muffler delete and numerous number of visual mods (debadged, painted trunk lip, painted tail lights and etc). So would it be better to sell privately or to dealer?

sell. typically you'll get a better deal selling privately, but it may take awhile to sell a repainted/modded 2007. i'd dump it on the dealer.

What can you undo for modifications beforw selling/trading?

Expect to lose money on the car. Dumping it on the dealer will get the song and dance about the car being unsellable. Most people going to dealers don't want modified cars, especially no mufflers. That's why i suggest undoing what you've done to the car if you can.

i can't believe that the dealer can't tell you what it is for less than $3k. that seems ridiculous to me. your other option would be to find a junkyard engine and just swap it over.

yea exactly, if I dump it on a dealer I'll put back my muffler for sure. I got a offer for my car from a friend before for 14g, I just contacted him hope I get lucky with that one. To sell it to a dealer they probably only give me like probably 8g. They said it's something to do with the sprocket for the timing chain, anyone know where the front engine timing cover is? I think I found it, I took a part some of the clutter in front of the engine, and I think I found the cover and it looks relatively easy to remove.
