Question on plastidip emblems then re-attaching

How have you people adhered the emblems back on the car? I don't plan on doing it to my G but did it to a secondary vehicle because it had the fantastic gold package. I used 3M adhesive in a tube but it gets everywhere. I see some posts and the job looks so clean.

Side note-did you prep the emblems or just clean them thoroughly and secondly how many coats? I did a couple on my other vehicle (Sequoia) in just black and already chipping from rocks hitting them.

You don't remove the emblems when you plastidip them...that's the point of plastidip

Look up some YouTube videos plastidip makes its own clean lines. You tape off an inch around the edge of the emblem and spray it onto the emblem AND the car then peel it off the car and it'll come off around the emblem perfectly (you may want to lightly trace around the emblem with a razor blade to ensure a clean line )

Rinaldi, if you're going to change the color of your emblems do it right! Plasti-Dip won't stay on the emblems, (peals off) use rattle cans and real paint! Measure where they go and remove them, sand/primer and paint using whatever color you like. Putting them back on just requires 3-M double sided adhesive tape available at most auto parts stores.

^ +1 mine has been on for years with no issues including many high pressure washes, i guess its all about the prep work and number of coats and time in between them

Keep the emblem on the car(if you took it off already I believe it is re attached with a special double sided tape) and mask off any area you might get over spray on just so it's not messy. And just peel off any excess plasti dip from around the emblem. Oh and when using plasti dip if you want a clean job take a look at your can of plasti dip and make sure the head is like a pencils eraser. This might sound funny but there are two types of cans one with a fat head and one with a skinny one. The fat one has over spray and doesn't look good, while the one with the shape of a pencil eraser gives a good finish like a mat black vinyl would.
