So all my traction control lights came on today. I took it to the dealership. They said I had the wrong tires on there and they need to b replaced. I got the car with new tires on them, the ones currently on there that are supposedly the wrong size. . They do need to b replaced because of wear. They told me I needed 225/55. Is there a way I can still get the wider tire without the lights going off on me?

You need to provide the tire size info for all four tires. Are the front different than the backs? (i.e. staggered). If they are the same size all round, and of reasonably close tread wear and tread design, then unless they're rubbing, the traction control should not even be aware of what width tire you're running. It's the overall diameter relationship between the fronts and the rears that causes grief with the traction control system. Many, many people here successfully run wider tires; even reasonably closely sized staggered fitments are working, so this dealer sounds a little hysterical.

Hopefully, the dealership is just giving you a first line of BS in an attempt to sell you a set of tires. If your tires are all the same size, it could be that you have a wheel speed sensor that's failing.

As usual VQ is right, I am currently running that exact size on my car, with OZ 18x8 wheels, NEVER had I had any issues with this rather modest summer set up. Then when winter rolls around I swap my stock 17's back on 225/55's.....

The AWD only cares that the OVERALL Diamater of all 4 tires is the same. So you could run staggered but your OVERALL diameter for all 4 tires have to be VERY close.

I am running 245/45's all the way around and have zero problems. Tires fill the wheel well much better. I had a staggered setup with 225 up front and 245 in rear and the over diameter was very close. The only issue I had with that setup was it ate up the front tires at around 20k.

All tires are 245/45r18. I do have a faulty tps sensor, I don't know if that could b the culprit.

Since we r on the subject of tires, what are your thoughts on the pilot sport a/s 3. R they as good as the model that they replaced?

Thanks everyone for your time and imput.

TPMS has nothing to do with the traction control system. Which lights exactly is it that are coming on? Is it VDC, SLIP, and ABS by any chance? If you get all those, it's often just low brake fluid level in the reservoir. It is still possible that it's a wheel speed sensor though (which is totally different from a tire pressure sensor!!).

As far as the tires go, I don't know for sure, but I trust Michelin as a brand and I've yet to see them make a replacement tire that wasn't as good or better than whatever model it replaced.

BTW, if you talk to your dealership again, ask them why they are giving you false information about your tires. That could have been very costly for you if you followed their advice about tires being the cause.
