Auto-off lights problem

I searched for anything similar but came up with nothing: I have an '07 G35x and a couple of times I've come back to the car after driving at night only to find the battery dead because the headlights never turned off... I'm so used to auto-off just working that I never even look back to see if they actually turn off.

Is there any known issue about the auto-off not working? How do I troubleshoot?

Thanks

yes That was the first thing I checked when I got back to it each time.

I think it has something to do with the light sensor... anyone?

Dunno, I bought the car new 6-1/2 years ago and have never even used it. I guess somewhere in the back of my mind I probably don't trust it. Well, that and the fact that I've never found it too difficult to just turn the lights on and off.
