Having the same question you do I looked for AMSOIL synthetic trans fluid only to find they recommend using Nissan OE fluids in our transmissions. AMSOIL makes the finest synthetic fluids on the planet so I gotta go with their recommendations!

Fill in as much tranny oil as you drained. Then go through the gears and check the level with the dipstick to make sure it's good.
thanks again, Everyone! Followed all of your recommendations and advice and got everything changed out last night. Took about 3 hours, since i wanted to take the time to do it right. I also flushed the radiator fluid. Can't wait to take it for a spin today!

Make sure you carry some extra coolant with you and check the level periodically. I replaced mine a couple of weeks ago. Got nice hot air at idle and no overheating problems, but there must have still been a lot of air still trapped in the system. I had to fill up the reservoir to the MAX line about three times since then. I don't have any leaks either I checked all around, lol.

I'm also about to change my ATF fluid and went with Idemitsu Type J matches the exact specs of Nissan/Infiniti. I also read that they work closely with Nissan/Infiniti when developing their fluids. It's about 7.5-12 dollars online, but I got a sweet deal on eBay 10 quarts for about 50 bucks.

I haven't done it myself it's one of those do I really want to mess with lists. Basically, from what I have read people pull it off to clean the two magnets and any possible sludge residing in the pan.

Do you remember if you used Castrol Transmax Import Multi Vehicle? I've seen Youtube vids of Eric the car guy using Valvoline ATF on Toyota trucks without problems. I'm about to do an ES330 and Maxima with each calling for Toyota ATF type 4 and Nissan Matic J respectively. The Castrol Transmax Import Multi Vehicle supposedly satisfies those specs and I'm more confident in Castrol products than Valvoline stuff. I think the only transmissions to worry about were the earlier 2000 Honda transmissions which were known to grenade...I could be generalizing though
