put in new plugs this weekend - the ngk dilkar7b11s. Interestingly enough, my car had denso plugs in there (I thought the ngks were oem?)

The plugs didn't look THAT bad, and i'll admit that I added a can of bg44k, as well as cleaned my tbs (they were painfully dirty, even after cleaning them only about 5k miles ago. I'm thinking a catch can may actually be a worthwhile mod.)

That said...whoah. Drivability has improved immensely. It's hard to put my finger on it, but it's almost like the car has recaptured some of that off-the-line immediacy that the 7spd in the g37 has. It's definitely running smoother, faster, and "newer."

(last time I cleaned the tbs, it fixed my idle issues, but didn't cause this much (or even any) of an effect on drivability.)

The OEMS were always denso spark plugs in the 07-08 Infiniti G35 sedan. I believe Denso is also the OEM for 09-13 G37 sedans. The part number is FXE22HR11. They only cost me $50 including tax for 6 of them at advance auto with 35% off coupon.

I'm planning on doing NGK plugs soon as I can feel my car getting more and more sluggish.

Glad to hear about the improvement you're having after doing so!

Hey Aktif.

I did the same mods recently with the addition of some fluid changing and new air filters and I agree, it makes it feel nicer.

I was curious tho, do you have stock exhaust on your ride?

The previous owner put on an aftermarket magnaflow exhaust, and oddly enough, after doing all these changes, once the car warms up, the exhaust tone changes.

I had a friend that didn't believe me, so she stayed the night, and the next morning when I drove her home we hit the back streets with like 10 different stop signs. I told her "let me know when you hear the tone change" and she nailed it. The moment I came off stop sign 7 (about 5 minutes of driving and when the car finally warmed up) she heard it perfectly.

No one seems to know how or why this would happen, which is why I was wondering if you heard any change of your exhaust or anything.

Just curious.

funny; i have a top speed exhaust, and the note definitely changed. possibly it's the ecu making adjustments, resulting in a different "tune" and therefore different exhaust pulse/tone. That's a wild guess!

it's not hard - just make sure you have a thin-walled socket.

my advice: do NOT use a spark plug socket. for some reason, mine would latch on, but would pull the plug free when it was released from the threads. I used a spark plug puller with a regular socket, and it worked fine.

Took me about 2 hours including cleaning the tbs.

the dealer charges some insane amount of $ for this. Use it on mods - i did

I used ngk's iridium plugs. Seems to be the popular vote here. Same ones used on the DIY for spark plugs
