FX wheels/snow tires too big?
FX wheels/snow tires too big?
Having a hard time figuring this out as I don't have a lot of experience with this. Found a deal on craigslist for $450 from an fx35 18" wheels with 265/60r18 snow tires. Will these work on my 2008 g35 journey?

Short answer= wheels probably, tires too big!

If you are looking for a pure snow tire, you want the smallest rims (to give largest sidewall) and narrow tires (to cut through snow) as you can fit.
So for your car, 17" wheels are what you want to look at. Tire size will vary on rim width, but you probably want something in the 205-215 range. You also want to keep your overall diameter as close to stock as you possibly can.

Ideal size on a G with a 17" rim is 215/55/17. That is same diamter as OEM. With a 225/45/17 you will be off by a good margin IE at 60mph your car will really be going 57. And it will only get worse as you go faster.
Have you thought about just buying a set of 17" rims (easy enough) and getting some cheaper winter tires brand new? I bought General Altimax Arctic (fantastic winter tire. It really is awesome in the snow. Lot of history behind this tire that dates back to sweden, but i won't bore you with my tire nerdness facts.) winter tires 215/55/17 from discounttiredirect for 425 shipped. Had a set of 17" wheels I bought off craigslist and mounted them to my car. This is probably your smartest route. Even if you can find 17s with tires on them, just have them removed and the new winters put on. Otherwise, buy a set of 16" steel wheels and roll like a badass in the winter with even cheaper tires.

So this ^ I didn't know and I feel even more noob.
What year is your car? Early models with the smaller brakes can fit 16's.
16x7's with some 205/65/16's would be cheap if you can find rims that would fit. G35 16" wheels are rare.
Your overall tire diameter would increas 0.1". Not really that significant.

The FX OEM rolling diameter is a little over 30". OEM G diameter is a little over 26". So that 265/60/18 is much taller than your normal tire. It would probably rub in the wheel well since it's almost 2" taller on each side. And your speedo would be off like 15%
How about these? I've never bought different wheels for any of my cars, so new for me.
