Getting a v36

hi everyone-wanted to get some advice on what to look for on these cars-
Wanted to see what youre thoughts are from what i am currently looking at.

copied from posting:

Up for sale is my flawless 2007 Infiniti G35 sedan (Exterior and interior are identical to the G37). Simply put, this car is amazing. All of the power, looks, luxury and reliability you could ever want, and all in one package. Keyless entry, push button start, 300+hp V6 engine that is very peppy yet gets great fuel mileage, your choice between a full automatic or a clutchless manual sport shift transmission, moonroof, leather, all power and the list goes on and on. This car has been meticulously maintained and it shows, needing absolutely nothing. My intention, of course, was to keep it so I never spared a single expense on anything it ever needed, but times are tough and my finances have other priorities to tend to so sadly, the Infinity must go to a new home. It just received the Infiniti OEM factory recommended major service which included an oil change, transmission fluid change, coolant change with both radiator hoses replaced, radiator cap, spark plugs, higher flowing replacement air filters and bumper to bumper inspection. The brakes were also done, front and rear, with the front rotors being machined (rears did not need it) and all 4 tires were replaced at the same time. Both cosmetically and mechanically the car is a solid 9.5. She gets washed and waxed regularly and is always maintained to very strict standards. There is absolutely nothing wrong with her, as anything that came up was done very promptly and professionally. She does have higher than normal miles due to long commutes (148k) but you'd never be able to tell since she looks, drives and performs like new! This car is going to last and be a problem free vehicle with many more years to come due to the care its received. I just lowered the price to $10,800 which is a steal of a deal for this flawless luxury vehicle

thanks!

These cars are pretty bulletproof, so I wouldn't be too concerned about specific issues. That said, the mileage is high. I would spring for something with far fewer miles...if you are able to extend your budget into the mid-to-high teens.

Was this car in an accident? Those are sport wheels on what appears to be a Sport model, but the front bumper is a Journey one.

On second look, I don't see paddle shifters so it could be a Journey upgraded to Sport rims.

150k miles? Run fast. I wouldn't pay 5k for that car with that many miles already. You are just begging to a long series of expensive repairs.

With proper maintenance, the mileage shouldn't be a huge issue as long as the price reflect that.

Ask for complete service history, no major accident, and the owner wasn't abusing the vehicle

i was going to start offering 8500 then work my way up,it appears to be in great condition, thats the only reason i was considering it,
i have a baby on the way and i will not be able to afford both expenses at the same time.

For reference, I have a high mileage 2007 G Sedan Sport (around 120K miles), and I have not seen any major mechanical issues. It even has the stock clutch still. The only thing I really noticed was the condition of the paint on the bumper and hood (lots of rock chips), and the headlight has tons of pitting. While these issues are purely cosmetic, fixing/replacing these items can be costly. You will probably not notice it so much with white paint, so it might not be an issue for you...

Those split spoke 18" rims were standard on the Sport package but could also be purchased w/ the Tire upgrade package for $800 and came w/ the Bridgestone Potenza Summer Tires.

Not a bad G OP, depends how long you plan to keep it, just think what $10k buys in used cars, not much, you could do a lot worse for $10k that's for sure.

If I could find that car in Van for $5,000. I'd buy it. I've never had any issues with my G35 with 145,000 kms. It's dealer maintained and so far runs excellently. I'll drive it till it drops. Hate being car poor and there's a never ending choices of cars, bikes and what have you to spend your money on. A well maintained and not abused G35 will give lots of milage, imho. I've only driven 42,000 kms in 5 years so I don't put a ton of miles on my car. Nice to be retired. Good Luck

Correct, under $10k does not buy a lot today. I look at them as bargain cars needing some work regardless of how good a shape they are in. I recently paid $16k for my 2007 G35 with tech package, premium package, Bose system, 18" wheels and 64k miles. Prior high mileage purchases: 2002 Volvo V70XC (245k miles) for $3k and a 2003 Volvo XC70 (134k miles) for $6.9k. I still have the '02 but traded in the '03 on my G35.
