steering too sensitive at highway speeds
steering too sensitive at highway speeds
after a 60K service I've noticed that my steering is hyper sensitive, such that, at highway speeds, the car feels uncomfortable to drive.
[prior to the service there was some rubbing sounds at highway speeds from the front, but no vibration/tracking problems. dealer mentioned the tire wear was low, and showing some cupping.]
so, new tires, alignment, power steering and brake fluid flush later (at an independent shop), and the issue has improved but not really gone away. It still feels like I'm getting maximum power assist to the steering at highway speeds.
any idea what to look for, what might be the cause. anyone else with similar issues out there?
thanks in advance.

^^ Agreed.
Being slightly toe'd OUT (i.e. negative), or even just right at neutral (zero) toe can cause a very touchy steering feel as described. Great if you're racing, but annoying for a DD.
Other than that, I don't recall the V36 having speed sensitive steering, but I have seen on other cars that actually do, that it's possible for the low speed (high-assist) mode to be stuck on all the time, thereby giving an inordinate amount of assist even at high speeds.

thanks for the replies.
on the alignment, only the back was out of alignment, and the shop adjusted the toe-in for the front. it's driveable now, but stills feels too touchy to me. maybe it's in my head.
