I've personally had my tail lights both tinted and then painted (which they currently are) and I love the painted look, but it really is all personal preference.

Only thing I don't get is , how is the red distracting to you?!!?!!!! Lol
Thanks!! I guess when looking at the car the brighter red of the tail lights kept grabbing my attention instead of things like the wheels, stance, roof, etc...."distracting"
It just deepened the red tone to blend in better I think

.
I did the vinyl roof with a friend who used to do wraps on cars a while back. Honestly, I would probably take it to a pro shop next time. Even with the shark fin off it was a challenge due to the curve. Without a heat gun I would have stopped and peeled it off. A heat gun or HOT hair dryer is a MUST.

All in All it turned out great with only minor flaws. There were lots of little air bubbles (even after a couple days in sun and just popped with a pin to release any air or water (we did the wet application which is more forgiving)

I say just don't do it, unless maybe a very light shade, in which case it won't be noticable. Otherwise, IMHO it cheapens the clean look...

Did you see the pics on page 1? My tails look factory clean and it IS a noticeable difference with the light tint. Nothing cheap about it. A quality product is a must though! The vinyl is very thick. Plus it's easily reversible if it want to change the look or sell the car stock!!

I did blue bat and just paid a tint place $25 to install them.

Here's a link with 4 pics from when I did it in 2008.

Hey guys,

I tinted my tails using nightshade and what I thought was clear coat, but I saw it was quick coat. The don't look too bad but they look dull, and I wanted them to be shiny. Should I wet sand again and then go over them in clear coat?

Try removing the tint and then not putting it back on again

No, he should dip his whole car then get gtr overlays. My car looks so good when people do that.
