So this started happening to my interior... with pic.

Anyone seen this issue before?

Anyone know how to remedy it?

This is on the passenger side by their left leg up on the dash. The other day I noticed it popped out, then after a few more days, well you can tell.

When I look at it, there are no hooks, tabs, nothing that this piece would plug into. And like many of the poorly engineered pieces of this car, this piece wants to pull away more than it was to stick to the desired dash area.

Any thoughts?

can you press it back into place? there might be clips on the back that you cant see that the panel presses into.

So is there a repair option for this?

That sucks! you'd think some 3M double sick tape would work maybe? It would protrude a very little if it took.

Before replacing it i'd see what's behind there. If some bracket or hard plastic try a interior screw or clip like this one Would blend in pretty well I think.

I just ordered a dash cover to protect the dash and reduce any of the dash glare. I'll post how it looks soon.

Behind that rubber trim is a plastic where the rubber is being held on. It's removable. I used some 3M 80 glue spray which did not do anything at all. Best option would be to replace.

So the consensus is that no glue on Earth will hold this in place.

I am taking it to Infiniti this coming Saturday to see what the damage is.

Odd tho, did the factory glue just decide it was done with its bonding abilities or something?

Is this something I will expect to happen on the drivers side as well or it is a one off thing?

Ahhhh Nissan, hiding behind an Infiniti badge. Gotta love it.

Both will go bad. My drivers side is worse than the passenger side though. I don't think it's the glue that's the problem. The bending over time breaks down the glue. So far it's only the edge that's popped out.

Very common. The G37 has a TSB for same thing around instrument cluster. The only way to repair it is to replace it.

So in the interest in avoiding a stealership price gouge, is there ANY hope whatsoever of doing this on my own?

I mean, I can clearly get some glue in there, heat up the panel to allow me to put it back in its shape, and hold it until it sets (to some extent), but is that more work than it's worth, can it even be accomplished with say:

Super Glue Plastic Fusion Epoxy Adhesive #15277 - Amazon.com Super Glue Plastic Fusion Epoxy Adhesive #15277 - Amazon.com

Or is this a, take it to the dealership and pay the costs kinda thing?

Any idea how much this should cost?

First of all, lets me warn you. I have not tried this on my car so don't blame me if you get in trouble. If you are all out of solution, you may try this method which is used to bend and shape plastic.
1) Heat up the plastic piece using focused sun ray or even an oven until you feel it is flexible enough to bend/shape it.
2) Bend/shape the plastic piece to the desire shape and secure it.
3) Blow cool air (not cold) to the area that you want it to be reshaped. If you let it cool by itself, you won't get it reshaped to what you want.
You may have to redo the process more than 1 time to get to the shape that you want.

Do this at your own risk!
Good luck.

This happened to me a few years back, luckily my car was still under warranty and the stealership was nice enough to replace it for me. Not sure how I would handle it now..

Fix attempt #1.

I spoke with a friend of a friend whom works on custom interiors, and an item they frequently use is double sided permanent tape, specifically, this:

http://www.dickblick.com/products/sc...FW8V7AodHjgA6w

He told me to heat the panel slowly with a hair dryer to make it pliable, clean and dry both side of the panel I will be modifying, and then use copious amounts of that tape to double stick the panel to it, press and hold for ~10 minutes, and then the results should be permanent.

This is going down tomorrow and I will let you know my progress.

I want to try anything except gluing it myself before I go to the dealership so I will give this a shot and let you know how it turns out.

Wish me luck!

_Michael
