garage door opener

So I just moved to a new spot where the landlord did not provide me with the garage door opener receiver (she lost it) I was wondering if anyone had any experience programing the garage door without the receiver. Note that the garage door has a learning button however I've tried numerous times of pressing the homelink button but nothing gives. Any tips would be helpful.

I recently programmed mine, and you need the original remote for the opener. I'm not sure you will be able to teach your car the signal without it.

You must have the receiver for you to be able to program it. Just write down the Model number and make of the garage door opener and search on ebay for Remote and the model number and brand. it will cost around $5-$30 depending on the model. Then simply use that receiver to learn the code and then program it to your car.

Most newer garage door openers use a rolling code and programming the home link button in your car usually requires a working garage door key and pushing the learn button on the opener. Just google "program rolling code homelink"

what model garage door opener do you have? i have a newer (2013) chamberlain - model wd962kev with myQ (wifi gateway) which lets you open it anywhere with your computer or mobile device and even alarm.com app. anyway, the newer garage door openers (chamberlain/sears/liftmaster) use security+ 2.0 which does not work with the homelink buttons without their repeater. i contacted chamberlain and they sent me it for $7 which covered the shipping. hope this helps!

press and hold the 1st and 3rd buttons until it's flashing red then press the learning button on the garage side. Since you don't have a control you might need a second person to perform the pairing because you have to press the button you want to assign at the same time as the garage is sending its signal.
Take note it could take up to 60 seconds for the light to start flashing on your car so keep holding them down!
