The G35 is painfully slow and underpowered. 40hp is a drop in an overweight bucket and isnt offsetting anything. When OP said sporty, a 300hp 2 ton car was not what comes to mind.

How is this all that different from a V8 S4, as you suggested? And in what world is a Phaeton sporty? No offense, but your suggestions were awful (G8 GXP aside).

Something that comes into play (ESPECIALLY) with the german cars, is how much OP is going to budget for maintenance. Any idea what the timing chain/tensioners cost on a V8 S4? It's insane. Same with the air suspension on a phaeton.

Even though the G35/TL/IS350 may seem slow in comparison to something along the lines of an M5, S4, etc, they aren't what I would consider to be "slow". To each his own, but they have more than enough power to have fun daily driving. Unless you're going from something like a M5 to a G35, there should definitely be enough power for fun.

My G gets sideways with ease, that's all I need. Can't say that about any VAG product.

I will say that I would expect better mileage for the given performance. The gearing for 6th is a joke.

My only real suggestion for sports sedan is a CTS-V. The other were just fodder.

Not too many 300+ hp sedans get good gas mileage. Even the G37 is only 1-2 mpg better. Hardly anything to excited over.

The BRZ isn't fast by most standards but it supposed to be a blast to drive. How about a Legacy turbo or a STI?

Too many problems with the 1st gen CTS-V. Plus it's ugly as hell and 6 lug is a pain

There has been a known problem with weak rear ends, but most just upgrade rear axels. Overall it is a very solid car and positivly viewed by owners on ls1 forum. Looks are of course subjective. I say the CTS-V looks much better than the G8, but again personal taste. Performance wise, there is little that can compare. The G sedan isn't even in the same leauge.

OP should make a list of what most important. Power, performance, space, economy, modability, looks, awd, rwd, cost, ect. There will never be a car that meets all critera.

The G8 looks way better than that outdated angular look that they have refined. But that's just me.

Also there's no problem with the rear end of my G8 and I can easily swap a Camaro rear for 3.27 gears or even 3.7s.

I don't think ultimate power is #1 or else he wouldn't have listed a bunch of aro 300hp choices.

I didn't know CTS-V has 6 lugs per rims, so we could put SUV rims on it? LOL

I really don't mind if the G sedan has a slightly taller 5th and 6th gear for better mpg, I never top out 4th on the track anyway ...

I was thinking 6th was a joke cause it's so short. I had a 3.2CL Type-s 6MT, and 6th on that was awesome for the highway. Way taller than 6th on my G35S.

CTS-V is a way better suggestion than all those germans and the G8 haha.

Yes the first gen came with 6 lug hubs. But it really isnt a big deal, there are tons of manufacturers that make wheels for them. Also those you want 5 lug, the C5 and C6 hubs bolt right up with Z06 rotors. No modification necessary.

Pics of nice 6 lug cts-v wheels?

I can't really see many makers investing a lot of money into a 1-2 year car with no cross applications anywhere.
