Broke something.....idk what it is

Today I was installing my aluminum under shroud from TollBoothWilley and after I removed the crappy plastic cover I notice this grey greasy stuff splashed all over on my sway bar, pinon, cv joint etc.

The pic is as if your looking at the front of the car and its located on the driver side pinon area. I see that thing looks like its cracked. I'm not sure of where or what everything is in regard to suspension so forgive me for lack of details. Anyone know what this is??

Looks like the CV boot like everyone mentioned. Had a small tear in my Volvo, but it's a pain to repair. I ended up putting some grease in, gluing a nitirle glove, and covering it with sturdy tape. Pretty ghetto but it's been okay since, lol. Definitely get it fixed asap though or you'll be spending a lot more to fix it.
