Just a couple of questions from a new member...

Hello. I am about to be the owner of a nice 2008 Infiniti G35 sedan. I have, for the 6 months leading up to this week, looking all over the place for things to make my new car special to me and unique in my perspective, as well as get the most fun and power out of my car.
Unfortunately I am not in any way experienced. I would like to learn about what I can do to my car, what its limits are, and what little things can I do to make the car a little "more like home". In general, I just want to make my car unique and personal to me, put my blood, sweat, and tears (mostly caused by money leaving my hands rapidly) into this car, all while learning the ins and outs of it.
Saying that, here are a couple questions that I have just starting out:

Question 1.
What is the absolute first thing I should do?

Question 2.
Should I work on / put money into exterior, interior, or performance first?

Question 3.
A. Supercharger or turbo. (or both? Is that possible?
B. Can a stock motor handle the blower without any changes?

Question 4.
What parts are handy / necessary to have when working on my own car?

Question 5.
Are parts interchangeable between model years? (example: a supercharger for a year 2004 model will fit in a 2008 model)

Thank you in advance to all who help out or answer. I look forward to hearing what you guys have to say, and learning more about my soon-to-be car!

Your new member,
UnrealPancake

Welcome to Driver UnrealPancake! We have a sticky that will answer most of your questions, along with our Search function that will answer the rest! If you love your sedan different wheels will make it your own. Since buying wheels can be expensive attend a few G35 meets and look for wheels at shows that might work with your sedan. Check out our Marketplace under private classified for wheels members are selling once you decide what you like. They generally sell for 1/2 retail but be careful wheels with to much/to little offset, that won't work well with your sedan.
Good Luck, enjoy the ride...Gary

1. Maintenance is #1 most important factor.

If there is no proof of scheduled maintenance on simple things it's best to do them now. I had all (ALLLLL!!!! :roar my fluids changed when I bought the car because that is a safe thing to do. Avoid flushes and stick to drain and fills. I almost guarantee your transmission has never had the fluid changed.

This will also give you a great piece of mind. I saw an Integra run out of brake pressure to his master cylinder this morning (cap popped off). He ran through a red light. Good thing no one was crossing at that instant!

Also, you're gonna have to stick with the 2007-2008 G35 sedan parts when looking for modifications. The body styling and engine were updated starting in the 2007 sedan (coupe was still unchanged), and then both were again updated for the 2009 model year.
