I thought our mufflers slid on? No flanges to space with those washers

I don't get this thread.

OP please just do a search. There are millions of threads like this already. If you only have a couple hundred to spend after getting a 2007 Infiniti G35 then don't mod it. Save your money.

Trying to mod an old car is a PITA. The exhaust is probably mostly rusted and difficult to take apart unless you really know what you're doing. You're probably spending about 10% of your car's value on just modding an exhaust. Definitely not worth doing on an old car. You may just end up dumping the car soon when you get into an accident or having to do major repairs/maintenance and wasted your money on an exhaust.

Again, and I can't stress this enough, do your research. You seem to be misinformed about a lot of things (you're just randomly posting about different exhausts and asking what to get.) I usually take weeks to research what I want. Exhausts are pretty expensive and once you buy it and install it, you're pretty much stuck with it. Keep in mind that in many states, modifying an exhaust is illegal and you can get ticketed for it or fail inspection.

And if you want my recommendation for an exhaust, I would say go for the Tanabe Medalion axleback and pair it with the R2C intake. I get absolutely no drone, but the sound is noticeably louder than stock with the same deep tones, which is what I love about it. The sound really kicks in at WOT, which is what makes this combo nice. After all, I bought my car as a luxury sports sedan, not a sporty super loud car. I don't want my car to sound like a Honda Civic Si because then it sounds ricer.

Bro washers are 12 cents a piece. Use 3 maybe 5 washers on each bolt at the muffler, that's $.72-$1.20!!

This is kind of a weird response.

First, most of this thread is sarcasm because a lot of this info is readily available and us lepers here at G35Driver are trying to make the most of our little island.

Second why are you saying he's gonna get in an accident? Very weird.

Third, I find it at least kind of odd that you think an exhaust is so expensive and permanent. Anyone who knows how an engine works knows that it's exhaust isn't THAT complicated. Nissan has already done 95% of the engineering, we just wanna change tiny variables to help with flow. Whether it's a $2500 mandrel bent cat back or a $200 muffler swap, the HP yeild is very similar. He can do what he wants tho.

Because statistically speaking,
1. Older cars are in more need of more costly repairs.

2. People who mod their cars' performance are more likely to get into an accident. Hence that's why insurance rate increases for those who have mods. Mods we put on our cars are mostly cheaper than stock parts, but insurance is still higher. Want to guess why? Drivers who mod their cars are more likely to be more aggressive on the road than those who don't. You may have misconstrued my post. I didn't mean he would definitely get into an accident. I meant just in case he gets into one.

3. Exhaust mods ARE expensive to the average person. Many of them take it to an exhaust shop to get it done because they don't have the tools/means/skills to install themselves. Imagine the costs of installing an exhaust, then realizing you hated the sound and then trying to buy another exhaust and reinstalling it at the shop. Now you're left to try to sell your old used exhaust that you didn't want (because you didn't research enough.) You're acting like all of us have the skills/tools/means to DIY exhaust mods.

If the OP doesn't have a lift and proper tools to do that, expect to pay shop rates (which is around $70 an hour in MA.)

That dollar can easily become $70 or more.

No i'm not. There are clamps that hold the muffler to the exhaust piping, there is no flange. Your pictures are either from a first gen G35 sedan or some other car.

Look at this
