'08 G35 accelerator pedal takes some getting used to

I've owned a 2008 G35x 5AT Sedan for about three months now and still this damn accelerator pedal annoys the hell outta me!

Mainly I am used to cars with the suspended accelerator pedal: http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/wp-...12-crop800.jpg

But the G35 has a floor hinged accelerator pedal....(http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=b7z6zs&s=4#.U9k4rYBdW7Q)

Needless to say, it feels awkward every time I accelerate from a stop light. It just doesn't feel right. With the suspended accelerator pedals (which are found in numerous mainstream cars today), all you do is tap it, and it accelerates smoothly and easily.

The g35, however, takes extreme getting used to. Sometimes my foot will "slip" and the car will rev like mad, then when the car jerks into second gear, there's almost no power. Like, where the hell am I supposed to place my foot on this damn accelerator. It really doesn't feel right.

I've tried every driving technique...I've tried driving with a flat foot on the pedal, I've tried using my toes only, I've experimented with applying pressure to the upper portion of the accelerator pedal as opposed the the lower portion and vice versa...nothing seems to work for me. Idk. Are there any other g35 drivers out there who struggle with this problem? Thanks.

My 2004 G35 Sedan accelerator pedal is suspended and it looks like the 08 is the same. I had to replace mine when the position sensor went bad.

With the drive by wire system it doesn't make much sense to have the pedal floor mounted.

Actually i find the floor mounted pedal to be better.

Oh yeah, and I don't know if it's my car or G's in general but I feel the pedal is very slightly sticky. Like adjusting speed 2mph on the highway can be difficult with your foot.

I do agree with you that it's really sensitive, however. Even after a year with the car I sometimes find myself launching a little bit too hard. This was one of the biggest differences for me coming from a 4 banger Accord.

Really? Mine is an 04 coupe and I'm actually surprised at how much control I do have. I feel like its very linear. Hmm..

Maybe its the ECU or throttle body. I've heard of delayed throttle response coming from one of those issues, which causes you to press your foot further down and accidentally launch the car.

Linear...that's the word I was looking for..it feels the exact opposite of that lol.

I have heard that the '03-'06 generation has better driving dynamics than the '07-'08 g35's.

Yes, the power does not feel very linear at all, the car will rev up to 5,000 rpm in first gear without even barely doing anything, and then when second gear arrives, the car actually SLOWS DOWN, even though I haven't changed my foot position on the throttle one bit. Like first gear revs extremely high and second gear has no more power, you need to apply more and more pressure to the throttle as the gears change. This, on top of the fact that the throttle is quite sticky, makes for a slightly uncomfortable driving experience.

Something is not right with you car. I'd get it checked out.
