New G35 owner

Hi all. I just wanted to introduce myself as I have been scanning the forum for the last few days. I picked up my 2008 G35x S on Monday. The car is bone stock and in mint condition except for the damn steering wheel trim. I have already looked through the DIY for the replacement of the trim and will be ordering the $75 piece of plastic this week. Other than that I don't plan on doing a whole lot to the car. The two mods I do plan on doing is a cold air intake and catback exhaust. Looking at the Borla exhaust and the Stillen Short Ram CAI with heat enclosers for the filters. The reviews on both these mods seem to be positive. Just need to get like $2000 together. I look forward to building my knowledge of the vehicle as I continue to read through the stickies. I am coming from an '08 Armada. Prior to the Armada I had a completely modded RX8.

I absolutely love the car. I have the sport so I've really enjoyed the paddle shifting. I am almost 40 now so I have had a ton of cars over the years. The G ranks up there with the top fun to drive. I've had mustang cobras and camaros in the past and they are just to heavy in my opinion. They are not a driver's car. My RX8 was a blast to drive but I would have to say the G is right there with it. Definately a little faster off the line than the RX8. Bottom line this car is very fun to drive!

Decided to go with the R2C short ram intake from Tunerzstore.com with the optional black hex filters. Ordered today. Great price from what I've read is a great product. Taking apart the steering wheel to repaint the bezel tonight and will put it back together tomorrow.

No problem. Was told the CAI will ship in 2~3 days. That being said will have it installed by next weekend. I need to pick up a 19 mm socket tomorrow to get the steering wheel off. Then I can repaint the bezel. Today I swapped out the cabin air filter and sprayed some Ozium in the vents to get rid of that god awful smell that is produced when the air is on. Pics to come.

We'll I replaced the steering wheel bezel. I was going to sand down the old one and repaint it but it turned out to be too much of a pita. So I bought a new from from Holman Infiniti.....$135 what a rip off! Anyways it's done now. The dealership also put a new battery in the car free of charge. It took a day for Nissan to get it from Infiniti but who cares it was free. Next is the CAI. I hope to have it by next weekend so I can install it. Then I will take some pictures of everything and post my repairs/upgrades. That will be it for the year. Maybe an exhaust in the Spring.

Here's a few photos. I will take some interior shots and under the hood shots once I install the CAI.

Not sure why the photo is upside down. Click it and it's right side up.

Yep steering wheel bezel is a common problem.. but a pita to fix. And that exhaust/intake should be more than solid!

Well yesterday I installed the R2C CAI. It took me about an hour and that was after a few IPAs. The installation was an easy one. I definately feel a difference in the throttle response. No real sound difference during casual driving but when you get on the throttle aggressively you can definately tell that some work has been done under the hood. All in all I'm happy with the purchase and would recommend purchasing the R2C intake.

Looks sweet. Definitely a huge upgrade over those ugly airboxes!
