Questions on brakes pads on wrong side of caliper and cylinder head leak
Just got back from the stealership after getting an oil change.
1. Brake squeel noise due to pads on wrong side. The said they notice a squel and it appears that the front passenger brake pads were put on the wrong sides. I hear the squeel every now and then my self. Are the pads suppose to go on a particular side, and if so will it wear faster or damage the rotor if kept wrong? They wanted to charge me for a front brake job to swap the pads.
2, They said I hve cylinder head leakage and crusting and that I need to have the head gaskets replaced for $3000. I noticed oil in one of my spark plugs when I changed them at 85K, I now have 121K miles. Is this a must fix item? What will happen if I don't replace the gaskets?
Thanks!

IIRC, the pads are not side specific. There is a wear indicator on them, but I don't beleive it needs to be mounted in any specific location.
I would pull the pads off, relube the contact points with brake grease and reinstall. Pretty simple fix but I am not sure you'd be willing to undertake that.
Either way, i would not pay a full brake jobs price for this service. Go to an independent shop and ask them to quote you on relubing the front brake components to stop squeal.
