2008 G35X:Upgrading OEM HID bulbs

Hi guys,

I Have a 2008 G35X. I wanted to upgrade the OEM HID bulbs on this vehicle. Does anyone know what OEM HID DS2 bulbs come factory installed on this vehicle? Has anyone taking out these bulbs? I'm sure it's either OSRAM or Philips DS2 in 4300K. I wanted a stronger light output, and wanted increase the quality of light as to see better at night and thought about upgrading. I do value quality and crisp clear lighting for nighttime driving. I also like the mild blue tint that my OEM HID bulbs produce. Does anyone have any experience with the below HID Bulbs.

Considering 3 choices

1. OSRAM Nightbreakers
2. Philips Xtreme Vision
3. OSRAM CBI

These bulbs are priced just below $200.00. I'd like to spend less however I was told not to purchase from Ebay or Amazon due to risks associated with "fakes".

Found information on HID DS2 bulbs @

Yes, they are Philips 4300K bulbs. You are definitely right that ebay/Amazon bulbs are not very reliable and a $100+ brand name bulb will definitely be solid.

Also 4300K isn't blue, its more yellow. 5000K is pure white, and 6000K is white with a bit of blue tint.

To the OP, if you don't want to have trouble down the road, steer clear of ebay Phillips or Osram (they're all fake). If you want guaranteed reliable HID operation, get your HIDs from a reputable source. Other than that, most Phillps & Osrams are 4,3000K. If you're looking for a colder (whiter) light, go for these:

I've put those in my '07 G35x over 6 months ago. They're well worth the price. They look great (deliver their rated 5K color) , and fire-up reliably. I found out that i had fake ebay Phillips ultinons when my left HID started to flicker or randomly wouldn't fire in cold weather.

I second this. I just put the same bulbs in my '08. You're going to pay a lot for quality xenons either way, so everything considered, it's worth the money.

Unrelated, but heynow, how do you like your UpRev tune? Considering it.

Thumbs up

As for the UpRev, (insert Arnold S' voice) GET IT NOW!! .

I actually no longer drive the '07 G35x with the UpRev.
My brother's driving that one & is loving it!

I'm currently driving a '13 G37x which i've just finished breaking in hard @ 5,500Miles.
I can't wait to get it UpRevved. Even a G with no mods will see greatly improved drive-ability (93 Octane tune will improve engine response throughout the entire rev range) - Especially the 07-08s with the Throttle Sensitivity TSB applied will get that crisp throttle response back.

I miss having the tuned VQHR pull all the way past 7200rpm to the redline, while my stock VVHR chokes right after 7000rpm. I can't wait to get my VVHR tuned!!
