Question Winter drivers: Any rust problems or issues?

Hi all,

For those of us exposed to winter conditions in northern North America, how is your second generation G holding up in regards to rust?

I rust proof every year and the car is fine where it's treated but I have rust on the roof (?!) and on the trunk. Wondering if anyone else has similar issues.

I've attached some pictures of my rust.

Regards,
J

Those look like they started life as chips. I live in Hawaii the rust capital of the world and have not seen any rust yet (knock on wood) when I repainted my whole car in January i didn't see any other than chipped areas and surface rust on factory suspension components. On an 04 I gotta say nissan is doing something right or I'm just lucky so far.

under my deck lid it is getting bad with small bubbles. Took it into a few shops they said its from vibration on the paint makes holes and the water and salt likes to sit right there too. $500-600 to get it fixed right. Also going to 3M around the deck lid to protect the new paint. nothing other than that.

I was wondering if people with their fenders rolled flat have their wheel arches rust out. It seems like moisture would just sit in there are not really dry out.

Have a 2008 G35 with 115,000 miles, bought it new. That's my daily driver. I live in Delaware with everything a winter can bring but did not have any rust issues so far.

First two pics look like rock chips that got a little moisture underneath and are starting to bubble up.

I've got 1-2 of those on my car from where I know i got hit with some rocks that made a few good chips. I never got around to touching them up and they bubbled similiarly to that.

Other than that, with 153K miles on my '06, the only rust issues i've had are with my exhaist. Cat heat shield welds broke, and my muffler flange rusted out.

The car itself is fine and the undercarriage is holding up very well. I actively drive in salt/snow every winter.
