I have 2008 g35x with 55k miles on it. Everything runs great, no over heating or anything. However ever since winter hit and its been super cold i have noticed a smell of gas inside the car when i turn on the heater.

I notice it more strongly when car is stopped at a light or in traffic and it goes away or isnt as strong when im driving.

Took it to the dealer they couldnt find anything wrong so i took it to a reliable mechanic and he told me he had used a small camera to look at the fuel lines close to air intake and had noticed moisture so he thinks its because the lines arent crimped tight enough.

He quoted $300 to fix the issue because he has to remove the engine to get at the location where the issue is.

Anyone n here ever have this issue before and is this a fare price to fix this issue?

Your catalytic converters or part of your exhaust may have damage causing a fuel smell. Have the mechanic raise up your car and check for exhaust issues. Have you noticed a Loud exhaust lately?

Not noticed loud exhaust. He said this is a common issue on Subaru which he mostly works on and its always the crimps around gas lines that aren't tight enough and weather change causes leeks.

Its called labor cost you troll.

I'm sorry, but I STILL can't tell if you're actually trolling here or not. Do you seriously think there is any way in hell that any professional mechanic is going to pull your engine (let alone fix and reinstall it) for $300 labor?

Yeah, you're right, I'm the troll here pal.

Maybe not the entire engine, but he said they need to remove something to get at the area where they think its leaking,and it would take about 3-4hrs.
