Lowering spring /coilovers

08 g35s sedan, I wanna lower it. Was thinking about buying lowering springs found a few no more then $300. my buddy told me to go with coiloves but they all at least $900. Any suggestions what's the best thing to do, recommend any? And Ill be on the stock premium rims and tires.

Well obviously the best thing to do is coilovers....The adjustability is there whenever you want or need it..if you can't afford coilovers than don't do it and leave your car alone...But if your like me and change your wheels up every now and then coilovers are they way too go.. Like Gary said, search around on the interwebs if your specific on what you want... It had been answered.... But if your going for the hella flush look then be ready to pay.... You gotta pay to play to get that perfect look... There isn't an easy wAy out...

Coilovers or lowering springs. This debate has been going on for quite some time. It all comes down to what your goals are. If you're not concerned about being able to lower and raise your car back to factory ride height, I'd say go with lowering springs (I did). You can get a very good set of lowering springs and struts with adjustable damping and your ride will be just as good if not better than a set of coilovers. Plus most coilover systems the strut has to be rebuilt at some point in its life and that can cost just as much as a decent set of struts. If a strut blows you just replace it and be done with it. Yes coilovers allow for better height adjustment but, ask yourself how often will you be constantly adjusting the height.

Each system has its advantages and disadvantages but, the choice is ALWAYS up to you. I chose lowering springs because I get the drop I want without sacrificing comfort or drive ability plus the condition of the roads you travel may help determine the decision you make. I have a set of Tanabe NF210's they give a 1 inch drop in the front and .6 inches drop in the rear. I'll soon be adding a set of Tokico D-specs because of the ability to change the damping and a set of Tanabe swaybars front and rear. Like JG Wentworth said, "It's your money, use it when you need it". Good luck with your choice.

Tein Basis coilovers are a good option and use the OEM front hats (a source of noises on many coilovers are the front non-OEM pillowball hats). They go for around $600 from TH Motorsports

These will be a lot better than a lowering spring on an OEM shock.

Got these last year for $800, kind of pissed they dropped $200 in 1 year but they are treating me great.

Keep in mind these are for RWD cars. Not sure what yours is, but for us X owners, options are severely limited.

Are you sure because it says they do fit the x model. I only ask because I plan on getting them for my G and I don't want to order them if they don't fit

They don't fit. That's a mistake.

I wonder if there are aftermarket coilover that will last as long as the OEM ones, maybe 75k to 100k miles? I heard that some of them needs to be rebuilt every 45k-50k miles.

600 is super dooper cheap. I'd say 25k lol. then time for a rebuild. OP the X front struts have to be designed to wrap around the front axles. Make sure they do that. There is a thread dedicated to X's with lowered suspension, good place to start.

On my X I am running tein springs, tokico rear shocks, and KYP front struts. Rides great!!! No plans to go to coilovers just yet.
