Horrible squealing coming from brakes

Hi all,

Over the past few months, it started with the right rear and seems to have spread to more than one assembly since I can't pinpoint where the sound is coming from anymore. It started as a soft squeak that persisted as long as the wheels were spinning, sounded like metal on metal, as if I were dragging an unfolded paper clip forcefully over my rotor. That slowly went away, and very quickly evolved into very noisy brakes, but ONLY while braking while cornering. They squeak a little when braking in a straight line, but it suddenly gets 10x worse when I'm cornering.

It has unknown brand drilled and slotted aftermarket rotors and pads only on the rear that were on the car when I bought it at 69k. Brought it to the shop at 80k, when the squeak was soft but persistent, and they said it was just due to the fact that they're aftermarket and they didn't see anything wrong. Plenty of pad and rotor life left. It's since gotten far worse, bad enough that I'm considering just replacing the pads and rotors anyway to see if it will go away. The loud squeal while braking around corners is obviously my brakes (front? I can't tell), although I was told there was plenty of pad left. Any ideas what the persistent soft metallic squeak coming from the right rear is?

Check and see if the shim is dragging through the brake sight window on top of the brake calipers. It could also just be crappy pads/bad rotors. Member Texas scout got cheap drilled rotors and they cracked, check for that on yours.

I would take the pads off and put high temp grease on the back of them. Lots of times the squeaking is the pad moving in the caliper rather than brake on rotor noise. Just had to do this with my wife's Subaru.

Upon visual inspection, no rubbing against the shim or cracks in the rotors. I'll try greasing and replacing the pads all around and see if that doesn't help. Thanks guys.
