P0455 code + evap control valve location
Since I couldn't find the exact bit of info on the forums here, I thought I'd share my solution to the P0455 code issue (EVAP System).
Usually, this is the gas cap either being bad or not tightened down properly. But not always.
In my case, I have gotten this code on and off for the last year or so. most of the time, it went away. This last time it didn't. My cap looked fine and was tight, still had a code.
Ordered the following part:
Dorman 911-503 Vapor Canister Purge Valve
This SHOULD be an easy job. However, all the info on the forum pointed to the evap canister being on the right rear side. on the 07, it is dead center of the vehicle.
The plastic shield is 3 bots, 2 nuts, and 2 plastic clips to remove. The canister and valve are under there. the plastic clips were a bitch to get out.
Removal of the valve is pretty easy.
1. turn 1/4 turn counter clockwise.
2. disconnect electrical clip
3. pull slightly out on the valve while continuing to turn counter clockwise until the valve starts to pop out. The removal position is between half and 3/4 turn.
Reinsert:
1. line up the tabs on the valve. Start in the same position you removed it in step 3 above.
2. press firmly and turn clockwise slowly. you should feel it seat quickly.
3. turn it until it is straight up.
4. attach electrical clip
Now, for what screwed me royally. The damn bolts. The two nuts go on bolts on the right and left that are mounted through the bottom of the trunk somewhere. Well, they're old and weak and broke on me without putting much pressure on it even. (1/4" ratchet). no easy fix. Only one broke. one of the other screws also snapped in the same way. Luckily, it was easy to remove and I had another screw.
So just saying.. be extra careful with the screws!.
The code went away immediately after starting the car. so far so good. will see if it stays that way.

there is a tsb on the evap canister control valve. Make sure you do not get the original OEM part. There is a new OE part that is recommended. The old one had problems across many NISSAN makes and has even been associated with the battery drain issues some have had (also listed in the TSB for battery drain on other Infiniti makes like the G37 coupe).
