I smoked a deer yesterday head on going about 45 mph. Deer got tossed and there's obvious damage to my hood, bumper and grille, with a bunch of pieces of cracked plastic in the front right under the hood. Fortunately it was about 3/4 of a mile from my house, so I just drove it back where it's sitting in my driveway waiting for an estimate.
I realized there's some damage that isn't superficial when I got back. A small wire harness was ripped from an aluminum stack next to the radiator behind the grille on the left side. I have no idea what this part is. There is no apparent damage to the wheels, alignment or suspension. Can it be driven to the body shop or does it need to be put on a flatbed?
The big check they will need to do is whether or not you damaged the frame by that impact. My front end impact destroyed the frame there, and the car was totaled.
Up to you whether you want to drive it there, or get the costs back for the tow from insurance.
It's not a little bit of damage. I need a new bumper, hood, grille, and A/C cooling module, and that's just the obvious stuff. Painted parts add up quickly.
Be careful with them or anyone that has them. I hit road debris in the freeway and they put a point on my record. When it comes time to renew I going to another insurance.

My only complaint thus far is they're really slow. Took 5 days just to have someone come out and look at it. Thoroughly unimpressed. I, too, will be switching when this ordeal is over.
