springs/camber labor price too high?
Once the car is on the stands and the tires are off (30-45 min), it's a couple of bolts in the back axle on each side and the springs are out. I bought a $10 spring compressor at Harbor Freight and had the back springs done in 15-20 minutes. The fronts are a little more involved, but not much. I took my time, didn't have air tools and I had it done in 2-3 hours. With a lift and air tools, I doubt it took them an hour for the whole job. There are plenty of YouTube vids on how to do it.
I do understand your reluctance to tackle this if you have never done it before. There are projects that I won't do (full SS exhaust on my Q50S, clutch pack replacement in my G Sedan (didn't have time)), because of time, aggravation or lack of tools and experience. But EVERYONE should have a minimal set of mechanics tools and get some wrench time on your car. Not only does it give you satisfaction of a DYI, but gives you confidence in your abilities to do other projects.
So far I have replaced the shocks, sway bars, brakes (4 times!), changed all the fluids (trans, diff, brakes, power steering) myself. I have saved THOUSANDS of dollars. (that I can put into mods!)
I think it's sad that so many men (and women) can't even check their own oil. My daughter does her own oil changes and has done three brake jobs on her own cars.
Good luck.

Hardest part would have been the front springs...but there are plenty of guides that even folks with limited knowledge can follow.
Do some research ahead of time before bringing to a shop...could have saved a good 700 from this.
Live and learn...such is life.

What it comes down to really is patience.. i have none and i do heavy labor 6 days a week with a minimum of 60 hours per week so the last thing i want to do is try n do something ive never dont before then if it doesnt come out right i dont have the patience to see that i did it wrong and need to go back and see what is what. It also is my daily so my luck id try n do it on a sunday, something would go wrong and id be asking for a ride to work. After seeing the BS that just happened to my headlight adjuster, i can assume something rediculous would happen trying to do springs/cambers myself.
Where do you live? I'll come do it for half that in about 2 hours. Haha (jk, I know you already had it done).
In all seriousness, tho, ask around. I'm always willing to help if it's around my area; I'm sure there are others who feel the same. But, all in all you actually got a great price for the job, so no harm no foul.
