The 2009 Infiniti G35 Journey sedan has the same bumper as the 2007-2008 models. It is the 2010+ models that the bumper has changed.

Maybe something is different behind the bumper because when I look at the two parts they don't seem to be the same. Looks like they have different mount points. I'd be happy to go with a used one if I could find one!

I am assuming the dealership has run your vin and is coming up with the latest revision of part number for your car, right? The reason I ask is because when I do a part search at various online sources, it comes up with different part numbers for that sensor. Further, the descriptions for the part application (i.e. being for a model with or w/o Sport, or for an AWD model) are conflicting between the IPB and the written description. For instance:
(notice how this one clearly shows it for the non-Sport version)
http://www.orderinfinitiparts.com/pa...&siteid=215003

(whereas this one describe it as being for a Sport model, but lists it under non-Sport on the same page immediately above)
http://www.infinitipartssuperstore.c...549-151134.htm

(and another listing for non-Sport)

Good news! Infiniti has agreed to goodwill the entire repair (parts and labor) which is fantastic news (helps that I have owned 3 Infiniti cars so far).

Now the bad news...the dealer is not able to find the part in inventory anywhere after searching through all their dealership inventories. They are still looking so hopefully they will find it!

Well, believe it or not our car has now been sitting at the dealership for 6 months waiting for a solution to this problem. Fortunately, I've been traveling and haven't needed the car but now it's getting very frustrating.

The good news is that the dealership was able to get approval to goodwill the part/labor for us but the bad news is they can't find the part anywhere and they said Infiniti will only goodwill a part that is brand new. Apparently, and this is what I don't understand, Infinit does not make this part anymore and it is not available anywhere. It is very hard for me to believe that Infiniti can stop making a part that is actually a required component for the car to run properly and the car is only 9 years old.

The dealer continues to look for options for us but in the meantime I would like to write a letter to Infiniti (and maybe post something on social media). Has anyone done this before and have any recommendations for who I should write to (name, address, etc.) and what critical pieces of information I should include in my correspondence? Any help/advice would be much appreciated!
