Hi all,

I now have a problem with the backup camera in my car. When I put the car in reverse, I can no longer see anything. The screen is just black. Aside from the colored tracks that sway left and right when I turn the steering wheel I cannot see anything thru the rearview camera. On a side note, the trunk lid button stopped working about 9 months ago.
How can I make sure that it is the camera that is defective not the wiring or anything else because a new camera is pretty expensive and even a used one is also.

They could be discrete, yet coincidental failures, but since you have had multiple things failing now, and both of them are located on the trunk lid, I'd check the wire loom (and associated connections) running from the chassis to the trunk lid equipment. Then I'd run down whether they have a common controller that could be failing, like the BCM.
