Splicing airbag cables safe?

Does anyone know if its safe to have a professional mechanic/electrician splice airbag cables on an Infiniti?

I saw that in the manual it said not to splice and just to replace them, but I don't have too many other options and I can't find the replacement part anywhere.

Any advice/help/experience is really appreciated! Thank you!

As a veteran electrician I can tell you that joining two wires can either be very safe and last the lifetime of the conductor OR be very unsafe and possibly start a fire. It all depends on the method used to splice and the skill of the person doing the work. I would suggest a soldered connection with shrink tube of the proper size. I would feel 100% confident doing this if it was my vehicle.

What he said ^. I would go with solder and heat shrink tubing. I wouldn't use a butt connector or those vampire tapes.

The ONLY non solderless connectors I would use are posi-taps or posi-connectors. The posi-taps have a little needle that pierce the wire and you put your splice in. The posi-connectors are similar to a butt connector, but are screwed on. They provide more security and sturdiness, I used them when I installed a remote start on my wife's old Subaru.
