How to get Bluetooth iPod/Music w/ Functional Display & Controls
Most people achieve Bluetooth Music through the AUX using a RCA -> 3.5mm bluetooth adapter or similar. This gets music through the speakers but music names don't show up on the nav and you can't skip music with the steering wheel controls.
To get the full functioning package (soundcloud titles even show up on the display), the fix is to use the included ancient 30pin ipod adapter that comes with the G and add a bluetooth adapter. Seems simple, but theres a lot more to it. The input is very picky and to make matters worse, it doesn't supply power. You can try generic 30pin bluetooth adapters and youll find that they won't power on/play music.
You need a specific one AND you need to supply power to the adapter.
Here is the final set up:
Requirements:
Bluetooth Adapter for 2011 or Earlier Mercedes iPod iPhone 30 Pin Cable - CoolStream CarPro - BTR104MB ($80)
A 30 pin adapter that adds power (I used CableJive dockStubz+)
The Cool Stream adapter is made to utilize the cars components/controls. It is made for Mercedes, but through experimentation, I found that it works with our cars too. This might be excessive for some, but if theres a will theres a way.

For people that are on a budget, they can buy a Griffin Blue Trip AUX and an Audio Jack to AV. Costed me $20 in total and I love it. As soon as I start up my G the Phone automatically pairs to my phone and I am ready to listen to my music.

Thanks! Very good information.
I have two questions for you about this:
What is the cable that comes out of the left side of the CableJive?
What if I want to play music from my iPhone AND use Waze for navigation (even though I have navigation in my G35 Journey with the Tech & navigation packages)? I wouldn’t expect for the Waze display to show up on the G35 Navi display but will the audio for both the music and navigation guidance also come through the car speakers?
And, just to confirm the other connections:
USB power adapter plugged into Cigarette 12-volt power supply in arm rest.
iPhone 30-pin to USB cable plugged into USB power adapter in #1.
CableJive plugged into iPhone 30-pin cable.
CarPro plugged into CableJive.
And for others considering buying these, here are the links for them at Amazon:
