Water leak, more than I want to chew.

Hey it’s been a while since I’ve been on here looking around. I am ashamed of myself but I’ve neglected my car, now I have a major project on my hands. The sunroof has been leaking and I believe some of the electrical behind the dash are damaged. So today I took the seats out and the carpet. Water is everywhere on the floor, water came from behind some of the lower dash panels. I have different brackets, brake and clutch levers are rusted, etc. everything in the dash comes on except for the screen between the gauges and the car want start. My next four steps not any particular order is to pull the head board down and fix the sunroof leak, replace window seals, start taking the dash apart, and cleaning up the rusted parts. This big project for me so wish me luck.

Are the sunroof drains blocked, or is there a problem with the sunroof seal itself?

Good luck fixing the electronical problems,
There is a lot of electronics under the dash, fuse box, ECU, BCM, if one of those is damaged it could be expensive.

Glad you're fixing these things and not pawning it off to someone else. Good luck with things, but electrical problems can be a bitch. You'll find a lot of answers on here so don't hesitate

Great video, thanks

This is going to be a slow process. Mainly I will be taking care of the important issues while slowly repairing and customizing the car. I’m doing a few things, looking for door seals and repair the sun roof leak, and then repair rear window and replace the window control unit. I’m trying to find a new carpet, I think I’m going with red. I know oem carpets are expensive, that’s a wish list item.

Do you have the factory service manual?
I think it will help you find the electronical problems

This is a self test procedure for the screen between the gauges, maybe it helps.
I do not expect your gauge cluster to be broken, but better be sure.

G35 NL I’ll look into that. I have the only manual I could find, Haynes, but it’s for the first gen even though it says it’s 03 to 08.

All meters work it’s the center LCD screen is shot. I’m trying to find the fuse for the BCM. The engine want start, windows haven’t work now none of the windows work but the drivers and the key fobs don’t work either.

Has anyone bought parts from infinitipartsdeal.com?
Will a G35 journey carpet fit in a sport 6mt?

74902-JK60A Black 2008 Journey $848.22
25401-JK40A switch assy-power window, main $357.84
284B1-JK61A BCM $414.43

https://www.taninautoelectronix.com
They have a refurbish gauge cluster or can rebuild mine for $299
