Access to A/C Evaporator
Access to A/C Evaporator
I am trying to figure a way out to access the A/C system evaporator so that I may spray some disinfectant product on it. I was hoping that I could access it from the cabin filter area. If not I suppose I could go up the condensation bleed hose. Will any of you excellent G mechanics or DIY experts please opine and give me advice. Thank you very much for your help. Larry
doing some reading on the internet regarding occasional musty odor emanating from the A/C ductwork when on. I am fairly sure that as a usual and natural result of water vapor being created and dried - bacteria does in fact become an issue not only in the ductwork proper but also on the evaporator coils. The solution as I see it is to contact those areas as reasonable as possible with a product that will neutralize and hopefully control that bacteria. I think my effort should be 2 pronged - attempting to clean the evaporator coil itself as much as possible then cleaning the ductwork also. (which also has 2 to 3 sensible approaches)

Another approach that worked for me is during the cooling season, when you reach your destination, take a moment to blast the heat at 90 degrees. This will help clear the condensation off the coils and out of the duct system.
