Thread Count for Tow Hook Same for 2008 X Models? (Front License Plate Bracket)
I bought the bracket from Stillen for my front license plate because I do not want to destroy the bumper by drilling holes in it. Stillen said they are unsure whether the thread of the bracket which fits the coupe is the same thread for the X models as well so the order is on hold for now while we research. I have a 2008 G35XS.

Any ideas?
Thanks.

Measure the inner diameter? How would I be able to pop-off the plastic cover in front of tow hook so I can get to it? I try pushing it a bit but I wouldn't budge.
There should be a small space at the bottom to stick a flathead screw driver, it will pop out towards you, away from the bumper.
That makes sense now. Yea, there was a small space. Thanks! I'll give it a look tonight.
pop the trunk and pull up the mat, the foam over your spare tire holds the scissor jack, lug nut wrench with extension and the tow ring, measure the threads on it. Unless of course you tossed all of that for more space/less weight, or bought it used and the previous owner ditched it, in which case nevermind
Yeah I was talking about measuring your actual tow hook that threads into the hole in the bumper.

I caught that, I just based my comment off the reply to yours. I legit didn't know where the tow hook was (the hook itself) until I had to change a tire.
Yeah when in doubt looking for random stuff like that it's ALWAYS next to the spare tire. Like Ford's with the capless fuel tank, if you need the special funnel it's by the spare tire.
Thanks everyone for the advice! I was able to find the hook in the trunk by the spare tire. I sent pictures of it to Stillen. Hopefully they can make sense of it and see if it will fit...I'll keep you posted.

Take it to a good hardware store or to a fastener specialty place. They'll have gauges to tell you exactly the diameter, thread count and thread pitches.
Will be interesting if they determine the thread size and pitch from a picture. Did you at least measure the O.D. of the fastener ? From that, they can really make an educated guess (thread sizes are standardized, you can visually tell the difference between 'fine' thread and 'coarse' thread, and they'll convert it to mm as well).

Take the mating piece from the truck to a hardware store like others have said. They have nuts and bolts mounted on boards with the sizes. Find the "nut" that your tow hook threads into. It will be metric and looking at mine, I'd guess M22 x 2.5.
Clearance from tow hook to front of vehicle.
Menards said thread pitch is 7/8ths.
