Wet Carpet on the Inside of G35XS

There are wells in the floor pan that have styrofoam block spacers. If you took on a lot of water the wells will retain a surprising amount. That can pose a real challenge to drying out, and can lead to a perpetual musty odor. Other forum users have reported removing the carpet in order to shop vac the water out of the wells and fully dry out things. You should be able to find the thread with a google search; I believe it had pics.

Can't really assume there are no leaks. If there's a clogged evaporator drain, sunroof drain, or even a leak around the windshield it can run down the firewall and under the carpet. Even a slow leak over a long enough period of time can build up under the carpeting and saturate the insulation to the point that it is suddenly visible and you think it's a major leak(or the window/roof was left open) and it really is just a longer term build up. Take the threshold, seats, and pillar trim off and you may be able to raise/block the carpet up high enough to get air & heat underneath it and dry it out.

Has the car been rebuilt ?
A long time ago I had a sh:itty rebuilt and the carpet NEVER DRIED.
The worst part is you have no idea where the leak is coming from without literally ripping out most of your interior.
My money is on the sunroof drain lines, which is unfortunately super common.

The car I just picked up has wet carpet , I soaked up the water best I could with some old clothes. Its still wet and not getting the sunlight it needs to dry up + Its winter:/ I did leave the car on with heat blasted for the legs but Its still not fully dried. Should I just have the interior shampooed professionaly and have them clean up any mold that might be forming? Has anyone dealt with this issue before??

Few years back I left my damn sunroof opened all the way and we had a bad thunderstorm overnight and woke up to my car completely drenched from the inside. I completely gutted the interior I removed the seats, center console, double din, carpet, door panels, etc. and began drying everything with a heat gun, towels, shop vac, small heater and the power of the sun lol. The seats were the hardest thing to dry as the water had seeped down to the bottom area. After everything was dry I left a DampRid bucket in the car to soak up the rest of the moisture that was left, luckily no electronics were damage and no sign or smell of mold
