There is no cowl on the G35, it's a cowl-less design, the water drains out from a drain in the bottom of the battery box. What people refer to as the "cowl drains" is the screen/mesh material on that plastic cover over the wiper motor assembly. If those drains plug up the water pools up and pours right onto the top of the IPDM. If the battery box drain plugs up the whole thing fills up with water and submerges the IPDM as well as possibly draining into the cabin.

You can check your sunroof drains by setting the garden hose on the top of the car, the water should trickle out from a small hole on the A pillar right about level with where the wiper cover is
Awesome! I appreciate that. I am a mechanic and this has been driving me crazy as infinitis and certain issues i am not familiar with. I have most of the car taken apart at this point and have checked the sunroof tube and drain to start. I find it to be leaking on the passenger side from what seems near the sunroof drain tube but it flows nice so ruled that out and it seems like its a build up since it doesnt leak in when it rains but instead after a rain if the vehicle was sitting and then i get in and go somewhere. Upon taking things apart i did realize the battery tray has water in it. I will have to check tomorrow and see what i find. Thanks again!

I had this pop up a couple weeks ago as well. The water was seeping passed the gasket on the sunroof drain grommet through the opening where the clips on the side snap into the firewall. Used some gasket sealant on it and stopped that leak. Now I've noticed the AC drain is sweating enough there is some condensation collecting in roughly the same place under the carpet. Not enough to wet the carpet, but enough to notice since I've been watching it like a hawk. It drains fine so not sure what if anything can be done for this new issue
