So every since I put on my 20 inch wheels ive had this audible click from my front passenger wheel. It sounded Identical to an axle click so I installed a new axle this morning and of course the clicking noise is still there so any ideas? I take the axle replacement as a good thing because the other one was an used one I picked up for a temporary fix.
Edit.
Ok so apparently the axle wasn't seated fully. I figured that out once I saw a stain in my driveway. Smacked it in with some gentle force and it's seated. Test drive showed minimal clicking so it's still there but the axle was a big contributing factor.

Update so axle popped out again so something is going on. I'll take it out in the am to give it a once over because I'm stumped. I checked the old axle and the clip isn't on it so I'm assuming it's still in the diff.
Yeah measure every dimension, pay particular attention to the snap ring to make sure it's the same length down the splined shaft.
If you think that old ring is still in the diff you need to find it. That can be a pretty big issue. Fortunately it's a MUCH softer grade of steel than the gears but you still dont want to eat it up.
On a separate note, your thread title makes me laugh every time I see it. When you put a "c" and an "l" right next to one another it looks a lot like a "d".
Ok either I'm an idiot or just having a bad time with this axle ordeal. Axle refuses to sit flush. Gave it a few love taps with the hammer and nothing. So what the hell am I doing wrong?
Decided to take a look at the other axle that I have yet to return and it appears there's alot of scarring at the tip of the axle. So I'm assuming it's the circlip giving me all this hassle
I think you should look closer inside the diff for the remains of that circlip or something else wrong. You can clean up those rough edges on the splines with a file, little triangle files work great for stuff like that, something is definitely wrong.
Why do you not have a circlip on your axle, you gotta have one. Is it just for the sake of testing trying to get that axle flush that you don't have it installed?
So apparently the diff has a circlip in the a groove inside the axle so the axle doesn't come with a clip.
Here's a Pic of the diff
The silver part behind the grooves is the clip from what I've read.
Also a mechanic friend came past (Shade tree) and told me the gap is fine (I know it's not) and as long as it locks in place your fine. Now what the hell is going on because I'm losing my mind lol .
A poster on my37 told me the circlip isn't centered and is blocking The axle from sitting flush. Is that possible in your opinion?
