I started my car and drove it and noticed that my car won’t go over 3k rpm and speeds up really slowly. Put a code reader and got code p1757 front brake solenoid. Do I take it to a it to a regular mechanic shop or a transmission shop?? (5speed auto)
Transmission shop probably but a GOOD mechanic will be able to do this repair as well, let them know it's common for the wiring to break on the valve body right at the harness and it usually just needs to be soldered back on. Show them this picture for reference.
If the wire isn't broken it's probably just the solenoid itself that failed.

around how much do you think a job like this would cost??
No clue, might be better to just order a replacement valve body and swap it in, keep your existing TCM. Call around for price quotes, it's about a 4-5 hour job.
If that wire was the culprit and I was doing the repair myself it would cost me about $0.03 worth of solder, if the solenoid was bad it's about $50, if you end up replacing the entire valve body you can get rebuilt units for about $300. Labor is typically $125/hr.
That's a good ballpark number, most of the labor is in the removal/installation of the valve body.
i just had to go thru p1757 myself on my '07 sedan... mine wasn't a break at the solenoid circuit. All solenoids OHMed out in range except the front brake one that was 26 Ohm vs 6 Ohm on the rest of them. Went to a JY and grabbed a solenoid that Ohmed out correctly as well as a TCM. Threw both in and it appears to be shifting into 5th now. Need more test-driving tomorrow.
