AC Compressor Clutch/bearing gone bad? VQ35HR
Got my AC recharged the other day by a shop and my AC compressor started making this noise when turned on and only when idling or reversing. (
)
I've recently replace the belt tensioner and the serpentine belt so my guess is that the clutch and bearing have gone bad, since it didn't make this noise before?
Is replacing those two things on a VQ35HR easy?
I've found very minimal information on this job mostly only this video (
) and they pretty much say its easier to just replace the entire AC compressor in this video.
Is it better to bite the bullet and just replace the whole compressor? Or try and replace the clutch and bearing?

I'd try to isolate the noise, not totally convinced it's the compressor. Get an inspection mirror and look for something the pulley might be rubbing on, the part that engages when the AC is turned on.
It's almost a flapping sound like maybe something trapped on the pulley that it's hitting?
