Has anyone pulled out a a dent from the rear quater panel?
I did a boo-boo and backed up into someone (one of those days, what can I say). Am replacing the broken tail light with a used one I found on eBay, and am "heat gunning" the big dent in the plastic bumper (tried for about 10 minutes today, no luck so far, but the Michigan-Oklahoma game was starting, so this can wait), but the metal quearter panel is slightly pushed in, maybe 1/2". Has anyone tried a Harbor Freight dent puller or something like that to pull out such a dent? I did not want to make it worse that it is if the dent puller is not the right way to handle this. Appreciate any feedback.
I have a dent puller kit from Amazon. It's not that easy pulling dents. It uses hot glue sticks with these plastic pieces that are bonded to the middle of the dent. Then, using a slide hammer, you pull on the plastic piece, which pops off, pulling the dent slightly. You have to keep repeating the process until the dent is pulled completely out. Real pain to keep doing this. In your case, you also have a crease that will remain even if you are successful in pulling the dent out. As MaLPoPieS mentioned, you will have to use Bondo on the creased part. Just applying heat on the bumper, will not make it pop back out. You need to get behind it and help push it out. There are several YouTube instructions on how to blend the paint if you decide to touch up the area.
